Our Promise to You
We use your location to power the app. We never sell your data. It stays yours.
This Privacy Notice explains how Michael Patrick Fitzhugh ("we", "us", "our"), the operator of the Primal Signal field app ("Service"), collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data. We act as the data controller for the personal data described here.
1. Data we collect
- Account data: email address, login credentials, display name.
- Field data you submit: GPS coordinates of pings and captures, audio recordings, photos, video, and notes.
- Environmental telemetry: weather, moon phase, and elevation looked up for your location at the moment of a ping.
- Support data: messages you send us or send through the in-app inbox.
- Usage & device data: app events, error logs, device type, browser, IP address.
2. How we use it
- Create and operate your account (contract).
- Provide the Service — probability scoring, maps, capture, submission, in-app messaging (contract).
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and secure the Service (legitimate interests).
- Improve features and fix bugs (legitimate interests).
- Respond to support requests (contract / legitimate interests).
- Send service and transactional email (contract). Marketing email only with your consent.
3. Who we share it with
- Hosting & backend: our cloud infrastructure provider stores your account and submissions on our behalf.
- Merchant of Record — Paddle.com: handles the sale of the Service, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing.
- Weather & map data providers: your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo and OpenTopoMap to retrieve environmental and terrain data.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where reasonably needed.
- Authorities where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal and accounting reasons. Field submissions are retained for as long as your account is active or until you delete them. Support messages are retained up to 3 years. When data is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email MikeFitzhugh56@gmail.com. UK/EEA users may also lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority. We will respond within one month.
6. International transfers
Our infrastructure and Paddle operate globally. If you are located in the UK or EEA, your data may be transferred outside your region under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
7. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege backend policies. No system is 100% secure.
8. Cookies
Primal Signal uses only essential cookies and local storage strictly required to keep you signed in and to remember your app preferences. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
